Next Raytheon 9 Court Appearance Thursday 22nd February and public meeting on 21st

Tuesday 13th February 2007

The Raytheon 9 have their next court appearance on Thursday 22 February at 9.30 at the Bishop Street Courthouse in Derry. We are trying to get as many supporters outside the court on the day and I hope that you can make it along.

The night before, Wednesday 21 February, we are holding a public meeting calling for the charges again the Raytheon 9 to be dropped. As you probably know, at the moment we are charged under the Terrorism Act and face a non-jury Diplock Court. The meeting will be addressed by a number of speakers, including Jim Barbour, head of the Fire Brigade Union, a Lebanese speaker and others to be confirmed. The meeting is at the Junction, Bishop Street.

This Friday night 16th upstairs in Mailey's Bar in the Brandywell, there is 'Night At The Races' fundraiser for the Derry Anti-War Coalition. Proceedings start at 8.30pm. Hope you can make it along.

DAWC meetings are held each Monday night at 8pm upstairs in Mason's Bar Magazine Street. All welcome. This Saturday we will be holding a stall, from 1pm outside the Millenium Forum to publicise the meeting and the court appearance. Anyone who can help out should just come along.

Other news...

A fundraiser in Bray in January raised over 500 euro for the Raytheon 9 campaign.

We have donated £700 (which was raised at the DAWC Xmas social) to Caoimhe Butterly, who visited Derry for Bloody Sunday, to help with the relief projects she is working on in the Southern Lebanese village of Aita Ghaab.

The video of the DAWC visit to Lebanon last November has been shown in Omagh, UCD, Trinity College and at a public meeting of 70 people in Dublin last week, and got a great reception. Everywhere we have been we have met groups of supporters who will publicise the R9 case and help to get people to Derry for the trial when it starts. We are showing it in Cork this week, Galway next week and Tralee in early March. We also want to show it to as many people locally as we can. If you would like to arrange a local meeting, to show it to a school or community group, please contact Colm on 0
