Announcements of S. E. A. MeetingsWhy is Racism on the Rise?Press Release 23.01.2004 There is no denying that racism is on the increase in Northern Ireland. Since Christmas several families have been forced to flee the Village area of Belfast after violent attacks on them, including two Chinese pregnant women and a Pakistani pregnant woman. So why is racism on the rise, where does it come from and what can we do to stop it? That is the theme of a forum organised by the Socialist Workers Party for this Sat. 24th January at 4pm, upstairs in Sandinos café bar, Water Street. The speaker at the meeting will be Barbara Muldoon, an activist in Belfast's Anti Racism Network who works on a daily basis with asylum seekers, helping them to claim their right to refugee status. All are welcome.
