Human Rights Director, Colombian Food and Drink Workers Union speaking in Derry on Thursday, June 16thSaturday 27th May 2005 Just to let everyone know that Juan Carlos Galvis will be in Derry on Thursday, June 16th, and will be speaking at a meeting on relevance of human and union rights to the G8 summit demos and the fight against poverty. Juan Carlos is the Human Rights Director of SINALTRAINAL (Colombian Food and Drink Workers' Union) and the Vice President of the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores (CUT) in Barrancabermeja, Colombia's principle oil port and scene of terrible violence perpetrated against union and community groups---"the social movement"---by the State and the right wing paramilitaries. Juan Carlos is also one of the plaintiffs in the court case against Coca-Cola in Miami, where the company stands accused of complicity in the murder of eight of their workers in Colombia.
