S. E. A. StatementsCall for votesTuesday 8th June 2004 Ahead of tomorrow's European elections, Socialist Environmental Alliance candidate, Eamonn McCann has not been on the hustings, due to the death of journalist Mary Holland, the mother of his older children. In his absence, his election agent Marion Baur issued the final election appeal. She said "If you want to shake things up, to send a message to the traditional parties that we want a Europe that is not militarised or privatised, vote the SEA's Eamonn McCann, then continue down the ballot paper. Ms. Baur said "Eamonn McCann has said he wants to be an MEP in order to give a voice to the voiceless, to stand up for the people left behind by the peace process. Working people know that if he is elected, he will use whatever platform or prestige comes with the job to mobilise opposition to a system that provides billions for war but pennies for pensions and public services. He will work with and for all fighting low pay, homelessness, poverty and the abuse of power by State and big business. We are asking people to give us their number one, and then to use their vote to indicate their preferences between the other candidates and parties.
